21 people make up the University of Bari security lab.

100+

Competition reps that count

Weekly practice and CTFs since 2022 turn theory into muscle memory before it matters in a live round100+.

Peer-led

Mentors ahead of you

Every session is run by members who went through the same training track themselves, not outside instructors.

Open

Public record of work

CVEs, forensic tools, and writeups get published, not shelved, so the research holds up outside the lab.

A team that keeps growing.

We are a team of students, graduates, and researchers from the University of Bari Aldo Moro, united by a passion for cybersecurity.

What started as a small student group has become a community that carries knowledge forward, stays involved after graduation, and records what it learns along the way.

Born at UniBa

Mntcrl began with a small group of University of Bari students who wanted to learn cybersecurity by doing it together.

Built across generations

Students become mentors, graduates stay involved, and each new cohort inherits the knowledge and culture of the previous one.

Notes from the field

Competitions, discoveries, mistakes, and milestones become a public record of how the team keeps evolving.

Driven by values

Drawn from our association manifesto, these values shape how the lab competes, teaches, researches, and shares practical security knowledge.

Competitive excellence

We use CTF competitions to sharpen practical skills, test ourselves under pressure, and represent the University of Bari on national and international stages.

Educational mission

We grow cybersecurity culture through workshops, courses, seminars, and direct teaching support for students entering the field.

Research focus

We investigate CVEs and vulnerabilities across hardware, software, web systems, and connected devices, then turn findings into public work.

Ethical foundation

We guide new generations toward an ethical, responsible understanding of cybersecurity and the judgment required to use technical skill well.

Knowledge sharing

We bring practical security knowledge outside the lab through seminars, workshops, and crash courses for the wider community.

Team continuity

We pass responsibilities and hard-won knowledge forward so the team remains reliable as members graduate, change roles, or move on.

Lab accessibility

We keep the laboratory open and staffed regularly, giving students a dependable place to learn, practice, and ask for help.

Environment respect

We keep the shared lab clean, orderly, and quiet, respecting the people, equipment, and teaching spaces around us.

Meet the team.

A community of students, graduates, and researchers who found their way into security through the lab and now compete, teach, and publish together.
